I'm not sure if the title "Ney Types" is an accurate term to describe what I'm
about to say, Anyways I'm just trying to explain what the Ney Set consists of :

In the middle east the Ney Set consists of 7 Neys, each Ney is named according to
the PITCH that comes out of the first hole opened(the first hole is the very first hole on the Ney belly toward it's end) when the player blow air to get sounds of the base or the first register.

The most commonly used Ney in the set is the DOKA Ney(DOKA is the arabic Name for the D or RE pitch).

It's sister Ney is the NOA Ney (G or sol) we call them sister neys because the
sounds come from the first register in D Ney are the same ones come from the
second register in G ney.

The third Ney to mention is the BOSALIK Ney(E or ME) and it's sister Ney is the
HOUSSANI NeY(A or LA).

These four Neys D, E, G and A are the most commonly used ones The rest of the set are:

The RAST Ney(C or DO) and it's sister Ney JAHARKA (F or FA) The last one to mention is the AJAM Ney.

In General You may have a ney for each tune and each half tune e.g C,C#,D,D#,E,F.................etc
